Who’s Eligible?

For Private Car Own Damage Claims, only Kurnia Private Car Comprehensive Motor Insurance policyholders may apply.

For Windscreen Damage Claims, both Kurnia Private Car and Commercial Vehicle Comprehensive Motor Insurance policyholders with extended coverage for windscreens (Endorsement 89) may apply.

Making a Claim in 3 Easy Steps

With Kurnia Express, we want to make it really easy for Kurnia Comprehensive Motor Insurance policyholders to get their claims sorted out.

Here’s what you need to do:

 

OWN DAMAGE CLAIM

 

STEP 1: MAKE CONTACT

Contact Kurnia Auto Assist at 1800 88 3833 or call any of our Kurnia branches immediately if you’re involved in an accident.

 

STEP 2: LODGE A REPORT

Make sure you make a police report as soon as you can after your accident.

 

STEP 3: COME TO US

Bring your vehicle to your nearest Kurnia branch within 48 hours from the date of the accident with the following documents:

  • Copy of Your Vehicle Registration Card
  • Identity Card & Driving Licence of Vehicle Owner
  • Identity Card & Driving Licence of Driver (If Not the Same as Owner)
  • Police Report or Slip (with Police Report Number)

 

Please note that the vehicle owner and the driver (if they’re not the same person) must be present to sign the relevant documents.

 

Once your claim is approved, you will either receive a cheque or direct deposit into your bank account, up to a maximum amount of RM3,000 per claim.

 

WINDSCREEN DAMAGE CLAIM

For damaged windscreens, you may opt to conduct repairs or a complete replacement.

For repairs, the claim amount will be deducted from the initial sum insured for the windscreen. The balance sum insured will remain unless it is topped up by paying additional premiums.

For replacements, the windscreen benefit is immediately terminated upon making a claim unless you reinstate it by paying additional premiums.

 

STEP 1: TAKE PICTURES

Start by taking photographs of the damaged windscreen, including these three shots:

  • 1 close up view showing windscreen logo / brand
  • 1 full view of vehicle with registration number
  • 1 close up view clearly depicting the damaged windscreen area

 

STEP 2: GET IT FIXED

Send your windscreen for repair or replacement at any workshop of your choice.

 

STEP 3: COME TO US

Bring your vehicle with repaired or replaced windscreen to your nearest Kurnia branch within 14 days of the date of the accident with the following documents:

  • Copy of Your Vehicle Registration Card
  • Identity Card & Driving Licence of Vehicle Owner
  • Identity Card & Driving Licence of Driver (If Not the Same as Owner)
  • Official receipt on replacement or repair of windscreen
  • Photographs before repair

Please note that the vehicle owner and the driver (if they’re not the same person) must be present to sign the relevant documents.

Once your claim is approved, you will either receive a cheque or direct deposit into your bank account, up to a maximum amount of RM5,000 per claim.

 

Notes:

  • The decision to process and approve any claims are at the Company’s absolute discretion.
  • In the event of any discrepancies discovered subsequent to our approval that may render the claim non-payable, we reserve the right to retract the claim and / or to recover any payment already transferred under the claim directly from you.
  • Kurnia Insurans reserves the right to change any information provided under this programme without prior notice.

5 Other Things You May Need to Know About Kurnia Express

  1. You MUST make a police report for any Own Damage claims, but NOT for Windscreen claims.
  2. Making a windscreen claim does NOT affect your NCD (No Claims Discount)
  3. You have 48 hours to send your UNREPAIRED vehicle to a Kurnia branch for an Own Damage Claim, and 14 days to send your vehicle with REPAIRED or REPLACED windscreen for a Windscreen Damage claim.
  4. Your Kurnia Express claim will be processed and paid to you immediately once your car is surveyed at a Kurnia branch, provided full documentation is received.

Kurnia Insurance offers few type of Motor Insurance.  The basic motor policy protects the Insured against loss or damage to the Insured vehicle, third party bodily injuries and properties depending on the coverage selected. The types of coverage available are:

Third Party Cover
Indemnifies the Insured against legal liability arising from both bodily injury and property damage to third party.

Third Party Fire & Theft Cover
Provides cover as in “Third Party Cover”, and also indemnifies the Insured in the event that the Insured’s vehicle is stolen or damaged by fire.

Comprehensive Cover
Provides covers as in “Third Party Fire & Theft Cover”, plus physical damage to the Insured’s vehicle following accidental collision or over-turning.

Premium and Extra Coverage

The premium is calculated according to the Motor tariff prescribed by Persatuan Insurans Am Malaysia (PIAM) based on the following attributes :

  • Type of Coverage (Comprehensive, Third Party Fire and Theft, Third Party)
  • Use of vehicle (Private Car, Goods Carrying Vehicle, Buses, Taxis, etc)
  • Cubic capacity / Carrying Capacity
  • Age of vehicle
  • NCD Allowed
  • Sum Insured
  • No. of Authorized Drivers
  • Extended coverage

Policyholders also enjoy the following extended benefits with additional premium:

Windscreen (for Comprehensive Cover only)
Covers the breakage of glass in windscreens, front, rear and side windows. The damaged windscreen will be replaced and your NCB will not be affected.
[Premium Charged – 15% of the Amount Insured]

Compensation For Assessed Repair Time (CART) (for Comprehensive Cover Only)
Compensation to insured on loss of use of his vehicle based on loss adjuster’s assessment of the time required for repairs due to an accident claim and NOT the number of days the car is laid up at the workshop. (For more details, please refer to our agents / nearest branches).

All Drivers Coverage
(For Private use vehicle registered under company/organisation) This extra coverage allows any authorized person to drive your car. Not applicable to commercial vehicles (i.e. trailers, lorry etc).
[Premium Charged – RM50 per vehicle]

All Riders Coverage
(For Motorcycle-Comprehensive/Third Party Cover) This policy covers unnamed riders.
[Premium Charged – 50% loading of Basic Premium]

Legal Liability To Passengers
This coverage protects the Insured against legal liability to the passenger in the event of a claim.
[Premium Charged – 25% of Third Party Premium]
Basic Premium up to 4 persons only.

Strike, Riot & Civil Commotion (for Comprehensive Cover only)
Covers the vehicle against damage caused by strike, riot and civil commotion.
[Premium = 0.3% x Sum Insured of your vehicle]

Legal Liability of Passengers
Covers the legal liability of passengers for acts of negligence.
[Premium – RM7.50 per car]

Current Year NCD Relief
This extension provides cover for compensation for loss of “No Claim Discount” (NCD).
[Premium – 15% on NCD entitlement of the current period of insurance and is subject to a minimum premium of RM50]

Breakdown Assistance

This covers all minor or major repairs to get your vehicle mobile, either at the breakdown site or at a service provider’s workshop, with rates for services negotiated between yourself and the service provider beforehand. Comes with free services such as changing flat tyres, jump-starting and replacement of batteries, not including cost of parts.

 

Towing Service

Should the situation arise, we will tow your vehicle to the nearest service provider workshop or a specified destination for FREE within a 50km radius (30km for Sabah & Sarawak), with RM2.00 charged per additional km.

 

Flat Battery Replacement

Free delivery and installation anywhere, anytime within the Klang Valley, with discounted rates for new maintenance-free car batteries.

 

Accident Related Services

If you’re involved in an accident and are a Kurnia Comprehensive Motor Insurance policyholder, you don’t have to pay the towing fee as it will be part of your claims.

 

Fuel Delivery

If you run out of fuel, we can deliver some to you in a gazetted location with a surcharge of RM10.

 

Conditions of Benefits

We will not provide Kurnia Auto Assist services in the following situations:

 

  • Towing from one workshop to another
  • For disposal of vehicle, where vehicle has no engine or transmission
  • Where the vehicle is in a remote area, such as non-gazetted road, estate, plantation, jungle or rooftop parking area
  • In the event of an Act of God, catastrophe, natural disaster and so on, where we are prevented from rendering proper service
  • If there is a power failure, mishap or situation where the Call Centre is rendered inoperable
